Stationery has always been one of my little weaknesses ✨. I just can’t resist all the pens and notebooks lined up by size and color, it makes my heart so happy!
Last summer, I bought some beautiful papers and envelopes to share with the women I accompany, to inspire them to create their own positive affirmations. When I walk alongside you as a doula, I usually suggest a few, but what truly matters to me is that you are the one who writes, chooses, and decides which words resonate with your journey.
Back then, I only bought 7 sets, thinking it would take me a long time to use them, that I would still have plenty left by Christmas. I didn’t imagine how many women I would be sharing with.
But my wise sister told me: “Buy more. Don’t be the one to set your own limits.”
And here I am, almost a year after starting this path of serving beautiful mamas in the Netherlands, ready to go back to that little shop and buy more paper and envelopes filled with magic ✨

By now, you’ve probably heard about the rebozo.
Yes, I’ve also seen the videos showing how it can be used during labor, to ease muscle tension, help position the baby, or offer support. But its use goes far beyond birth. For me, it’s been a true discovery.
It’s not just a tool. Not just a piece of fabric.
It’s a way of caring.
The rebozo is a cotton cloth woven by the hands of Mexican artisans, who have been supporting women for generations, through their cycles, motherhood, birth, postpartum...
And the most beautiful part? It embraces both body and soul.
The rebozo relaxes, supports, adjusts, and contains.
And if you allow it, it will gently caress your story.
I’ve been lucky to learn from beautiful, generous women, Laura @tudoulaencasa, Fany @fannyjipe and Fern @fern.herbalistdoula Denys @denys.casaarcoiris Cris @cbsfisio2021 , who have shown me, with their hands, how this cloth can become an extension of the heart.

Their guidance has taught me to move slowly, with intention.

And here I am: still practicing, making mistakes, trying again…completely in awe of the generosity of this cloth that wraps without asking anything in return.

The Way We Speak to Ourselves Matters
The words we use and how we express ourselves make a difference. Speaking kindly to ourselves creates a sense of well-being and even releases oxytocin—one of the key hormones for labor and birth.

Climbing the hill with my baby on my back after a long day at the beach, a woman stopped and offered me her respect.
Was it for carrying him close? For wanting to show him the world?
So many women share with me their fear of not being able to return.
To who they were.
To what once brought them joy.
But how do we return to someone we no longer are? Is there even a place, or a self, to go back to?
Mothering slows you down.
It teaches you to breathe differently.
To adapt.
The early months of postpartum are raw. A dance of survival, learning, and juggling.
Becoming a mother is a journey, one that asks for awareness, acceptance, self-love, and open arms.
It’s about welcoming change.
Finding balance between the new version of you, your baby’s needs, and your own.
For me, walking into the wild still feels like a calling.
It’s how I stay connected to my essence, to the freedom I used to chase in faraway places.
Now I go with him.
I make space for both: the new, and the part of me that still seeks for open skies.
Adapting doesn’t mean forgetting ourselves.
It’s a way of remembering who we are and bringing her with us.

Lately, I’ve been asked this question that has led me to reflect.

#lilianalammers en el encuentro informativo @paramanadoula_latam , organizado por Maca de @naceralavida_
Michel y Liliana han acompañado a mujeres en sus embarazos y partos durante varias décadas desde una perspectiva no intervencionista.
✨La sociabilización del parto y el condicionamiento cultural han provocado que las mujeres estén estado expuestas a estímulos durante el trabajo de parto que impiden la reducción de la actividad del neocórtex. Así, se inhibe la producción de hormonas del amor y se dificulta la relajación durante el trabajo de parto.
✨ La medicalización del parto, introducida con el objetivo de prevenir complicaciones perinatales, se ha convertido en la norma.
✨ La presencia de múltiples personas, un entorno hospitalario desconocido, luces intensas, entre otros, interfieren negativamente. Como consecuencia los partos se alargan y pueden ser mas dolorosos
ya que a la mujer le cuesta más desconectarse y entregarse al trance del “Planeta Parto”.
✨ Mi intención como tu doula es intervenir lo menos posible en este momento sagrado, promoviendo la calma y sosteniendo el espacio junto con la pareja para que la madre y el bebé hagan su mejor trabajo.
Ha sido un privilegio escucharlos y empaparme de su energía vital.

TREASURING MOMENTS!
Today the weather is nice here, and we went to the beach. We sat on the sand and started picking up seashells, just playing without any objective.
I was choosing the ones that were whole, the pretty ones, the ones without holes. It was like my mind was subconsciously predisposed to select and categorize.
After a while, I realized that my little one was picking up EVERYTHING. The broken ones, the small ones, the ones with holes… He wasn’t judging; he was just playing and living in the moment, open to any possibility and seeing the beauty in each one. 🐚
So much to learn.

Playground Wisdom
Today, I went to the park with my little one—to get some fresh air, to get messy, to play. While he was completely absorbed in his activity, a father and I had one of those conversations I like to call “Conversations to Save the World.” We talked about how troubling the world is becoming, about the beauty of the day, and about parenting—the questions it brings.
Here are some reflections and open-ended questions that emerged:
✨ The Privilege of Observing
Watching our children develop their abilities is a gift. Their curiosity, creativity, resilience, and the passion they bring to everything they do… They don’t fear a blank page, they don’t doubt themselves. What if they are the true geniuses? What if, instead of teaching them, we dedicated ourselves to learning from them?
🤲 The Tribe as a Gift
Children thrive when they feel protected. They grow with confidence when they have multiple figures of reference, when they are surrounded by a supportive community. What if we focused on creating a strong network around us to support parenting? My doula collega’s Joanna @birthnest_doula and Valentina @juno_births know a tone about it.
🌱 We Grow as We Raise
We want the best for our children, so we invest time in researching, reading, and learning. But sometimes, we forget that the best they have is already within them—their innate ability to create. What if we also invested time in our own growth, following our own intuition?
🔄 Change as a Law of Life
One, two, three years… Boom! In the blink of an eye, our little ones are off to school. Time passes, they change, and they build their personalities. What if we also allowed ourselves to change, without guilt? What if we stopped longing to “go back” to who we were before becoming parents?
In the end, we realized that we might not change the world. But… what if we change the way we look at childhood? What if, as Michel Odent says, we change the way we are born?

This sentence from the book "À corps consentant” has been swirling in my mind for weeks and weeks.
I think about it and think about it again. It feels so true and so crazy at the same time.

La pienso y vuelvo a pensar. Me parece tan cierta y tan loca a la vez.
Como dice Therese es necesario que entendamos que nuestro cuerpo tiene conciencia de cada palabra que decimos.
Sentimos cada palabra, porque pasa por nuestro cuerpo antes de ser dicha, no es asombroso?

My experience in La Cerrada ritual.
A few weeks ago, I participated in “La Cerrada” ritual, a collective Cerrada that opened me up to share, to release, and closed my bones and insecurities. Giving and receiving. 🤲
@denys.casaarcoiris from Casa Arcoíris, in #Cantabria, #Spain, opened the door to her home in a cared-for and serene space. Together with @cbsfisio2021 they guided the ritual, attending every detail, sharing wisdom, and honoring the ancestral tradition.✨
Here, I share what I experienced. Nak3d. Without seeking an explanation, surrendering to the medicine, and allowing myself to just be.
The herbs warmed my body. The massage softened the path. At each of the Cerrada points, I felt my tension release, something subtly, gently, and tightly leaving me. And what it was, I don’t know. Lying on the ground, I felt relaxed, loved, and protected. With my mind blank and my body tight, I was ready to return. As I released the tension, I took a deep breath. New, different air.
Calmly, I dress3d again. It was my turn to give to my comadre, with gratitude and the desire to offer her my presence and my hands to accompany her own journey.

En cada uno de los puntos de la cerrada, sentí que se liberaba mi tensión, que algo salía de mí, de manera sutil, muy suave, anudada. Y qué era, no lo sé. Tumbada en el suelo, me sentí relajada, querida y protegida. Con la mente en blanco y el cuerpo apretado, estaba preparada para regresar.
Al desanudarm3, tomé aire profundo. Aire nuevo, distinto. En calma, me volví a vestir. Era mi turno de dar a mi comadre, desde el agradecimiento y el deseo de ofrecerle mi presencia y mis manos para acompañar su propio viaje.

Are we innocent until proven guilty? This morning, while reading @penny.simkin 's book The Labour Progress - this question came to mind.
According to Penny and WHO guidelines, it is not possible to determine whether a birth is normal or requires intervention until it is completed.

What really surprised me is that WHO and international organizations do not consider progress rates as a strict criterion, as each woman has her own rhythm.
